Naratriptan Hydrochloride is indicated for the treatment of migraines. These are frequent types of headaches. They cause moderate to severe pain that is pulsing or throbbing. The discomfort is sometimes on one side of your head.
This medication helps to relieve headache, pain, and other symptoms of migraines including:

- Vomiting
- Sensitivity to light and sound
How does Naratriptan Hydrochloride work?
Naratriptan Hydrochloride works by stimulating receptors called serotonin receptors that are found in the brain. A natural substance called serotonin normally acts on these receptors. That it causes blood vessels in the brain to narrow. Naratriptan imitates this action of serotonin by directly stimulating the serotonin receptors in the brain. This narrows the blood vessels and so relieves the pain of migraine headaches.
Why use Naratriptan Hydrochloride?
Naratriptan Hydrochloride belongs to the group of medications called triptans. This medication will allow you to get back to your normal routine. This may also lessen your need for other pain medications. Naratriptan Hydrochloride is a prescription approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This is supplied as tablets with the strengths of 1 mg and 2.5 mg. Each tablet contains Naratriptan Hydrochloride as an active ingredient.
How to use Naratriptan Hydrochloride?
This medication is to be taken by mouth. You may take each dose with or without a meal. This is taken at the first sign of a migraine. If your headache comes back or if your symptoms are only partly relieved, you may take another dose after 4 hours. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a full glass of water. Do not chew or break the tablet.
The dosage is based on your condition and response. Do not take more than needed. Call your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it gets worse.
