What condition does Dronedarone treat?
Dronedarone is a medication used if you have had a certain irregular heartbeat in the past but now have a normal heart rhythm called paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation. This helps you keep a normal heart rhythm. This also lowers your chance of having to go to the hospital for atrial fibrillation.
This is known as an antiarrhythmic drug. It is a white fine powder that is practically insoluble in water. It is also freely soluble in methylene chloride and methanol. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved this medication.
How does Dronedarone work?
Dronedarone works mainly by blocking channels. It is through which charged particles of potassium flow in and out of the heart muscle cells. The increased course of charged elements creates too much electrical activity. Wherein, it leads to rapid heart rate and atrial fibrillation. By reducing the flow of potassium through the channels, this medicine slows down contractions in the atria. It also prevents fibrillation and lowers the heart rate.
What is the recommended dosage of Dronedarone?
The dosage is based on your medical condition and response.
